Inspired by folk/delta blues from the 20′s-30′s, Mary Climbed the Ladder for the Sun is a pocket full of fingerpicking, strong lyrics and nostalgic landscapes. Being his first album, it works as a timeline of what Mandrax Icon has been since he was just an idea six years ago. Old and new songs are logically connected into a beautiful album. But beware of these songs: Mandrax Icon delivers feelings of all kind until you surrender.

In the end of 2009 i was invited, together with Isa Rodrigues, to create a new image for Teatro Aveirense. The new theatre direction by Pedro Jordão was just starting and we participated in the whole process of definition of new theatre concepts that took place the following year. So we came up with a new logo, website and stationery and we created the basic scheme for the events posters and monthly agendas. We were working with a very low budget so we did craft simple black/white agendas that caused and immediate impact over the city since they were the first manifestation of a TA’s new fresh face. The same happened with the series of posters that were showing up in the streets. We opted to make more illustration-based posters rather than just photos so we ended up with a very contemporary and cool look. Also, the website (no longer online) wasn't a plain institutional database - we decided to create an horizontally navigable timeline of events. Our collaboration stopped at Dec'2010.

Mandrax Icon at 49 ZDB poster

Mr. Chapman was kind enough to give me his jacket. When he passed away his son Archibald came to reclaim the jacket that now belongs to him. This short story is written and illustrated by me on this 6 page book.
